I’ve been hearing an unhappy cat all day. I thought it was an awfully mature mowowow for the kitten that lives next door. Sure enough, when I finally went outside, it turned out to be the cat from upstairs. I guess she likes to get out, but sometimes her person forgets to let her back in. Or, from my experience with cats and outdoors and such like, maybe when ms person was ready to go out and do her Saturday afternoon shopping, miss kitty wasn’t quite ready to be called back into the apartment. It’s that old, “I’ll teach you a lesson” and “no, I’ll teach YOU a lesson.” Anyway, I think kitty got taught the lesson this time, as she’s been pretty unhappy. It was the thunder that finally brought me outside, away from my Saturday afternoon cleaning. So, kitty and I sat outside, looking up at the sky, waiting for something to happen. She kept asking me if I would save her if there was a tornado, and I kept saying, “not to worry, they never happen here,” but I’m not sure she believed me.

Spring on the farm
It was my birthday a few weeks ago, so I took myself on a special outing! I fell in love with farms a long time ago. My mother always said I should have married a farmer. Instead, I studied soils and plant science and spend most of my time with books, but just for one day, I went wandering in the countryside. Some nearby farms had tastings – ice cream, goat cheese, honey, popcorn, locally made wines- a wonderful taste of green!
The remnants of spring
Spring is almost gone and summer is in the wings to take her place. Over the Memorial Day weekend we ran into this gosling kindergarten at a park in Illinois. According to LoveCanadaGeese, adults take turns babysitting to allow the rest of the adutls to better watch for danger. Personally, I think it just gives the tired moms and dads more time to enjoy the gorgeous May weather!
