Friends Stick Together

I love this adorable picture that Ian sent of three friends I met in Poland! I’d seen pictures of these girls before I went to Poland, but it was so wonderful to meet two of them in person when I was there. I can’t say as friendship is my forte. In grade school, I had a best friend, but I was pretty bossy and she was easy going, and that’s probably the only reason it worked. In Jr. High I was often the lone girl out in a three-some of friends and it was pretty much ditto in high school. In college I roomed with some one who had become my best friend over the summer, and by the end of the year we were hardly talking to each other. Then I got married…that worked pretty well for 22 years! Anyway, my point is, friendship is not such an easy thing for me. It’s something I’ve thought a lot about in the last year and have put some effort into, even though I tend to be a loner and love my solitude. It’s another reason I am so thankful for my Sunday morning meeting (church in the home). Being with people who have the same thing in their hearts makes it easy to be friends. We automatically value the same things and even if we don’t always spend a lot of time together, you know they will be there for you and love you in spite of yourself.
